About

Timothy Alexander PhD
With a vision of balancing sustainable resource use with biodiversity conservation, I specialize in the management of socio-ecological systems, particularly aquatic ecosystems. My expertise spans lake and river ecology, with a focus on fish, and I have a strong foundation in field and desktop research, information synthesis, and data analysis. I provide services such as fisheries assessments, environmental risk and impact evaluations, and the design and implementation of monitoring programs, offering managers the information they need to make informed decisions. My skills in underwater imaging, habitat mapping (using drones, sonar, and cameras), photogrammetry, and hydroacoustics provide innovative approaches to understanding and managing aquatic habitats.
As lead author of the Projet Lac synthesis report and with six years of post-doctoral experience in fish ecology at Eawag and the University of Bern, I bring academic rigor and applied expertise to my work. I am adept at producing quality reports and presentations in both English and German. Whether synthesizing complex information, analyzing and visualizing data, or conducting field surveys, I deliver actionable insights to support sustainable aquatic ecosystem management.
